I was delighted to have the opportunity to read an advance copy of Her Secret, primarily because it was such a huge pleasure to meet Audrey Fox (the heroine of Kelly’s previous bestseller No Way Back) again.

The big question in this story is: how will Audrey ever manage to unravel what looks like a colossal tangle of secrets and lies?
Newly-married Audrey is a wonderful heroine – kind-hearted, generous, and always trying to do her best for her friends and family. But she also has a talent for opening her mouth, putting both her Louboutins in it, and saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, albeit with the best of intentions. As I was reading this lovely novel, I kept thinking: no, Audrey, please don’t say that – and, of course, Audrey often did.
While I turned the pages, I kept trying to guess what would happen next, and I was usually wrong. Nick or Daniel, Daniel or Nick – who could be the right man for Audrey? Kelly cleverly pulled me first one way and then another way, so sometimes I was rooting for Daniel and sometimes for Nick.
Who would take a bullet for Audrey and who really deserved her love? Read this brilliant novel and find out. The story is full of surprises, and it features so many twists and turns that I don’t recommend starting to read it on a day when you have lots of other things to do, because you won’t want to put it down.
The writing is warm and stylish, and the present tense, first person narrative draws the reader into the story. Although Audrey is sometimes misguided, she is always witty and - occasionally - wise. She’s loyal and loving and would be my ideal best friend.
Thank you to Urbane for sending me an ARC of this delicious novel in exchange for an honest review.
