Reviewing The Angst Of De-Cluttering!

Time to declutter my clothes, I must do it, but can I really throw away my Jeff Banks jacket from 1977?

Yes, you read that correctly, 1977. And it still fits (just)!! But I will probably never wear it again. Is it time for eBay maybe?

Trusted Levis!

Then there are my Levi's from the same year. They also still fit! And goodness me, a Laura Ashley full length dress from 1972. Too scared to try that on! I used to wear this to dances at Brockhampton Court in Herefordshire - now a Nursing Home!

I distinctly remember buying the dress from one of the first Laura Ashley shops that opened in Oxford in the same year.

Laura Ashley

Happy memories of this Laura Ashley dress!

Why have I kept these three items? Because of the names I suppose. And the nostalgia element of where I wore the jeans, the jacket and the dress. They are far too good to give away and so well made too, that they still have pride of place in their cellophane wrappings in my wardrobe.

But I am determined to de-clutter other items of clothing I haven't worn for a long time. My sister once said 'Put the items in a cupboard and if you haven't missed them after one month, then it's time for them to go.' Sound advice!

I wonder if we will still have some of our clothes we wear today in forty years time!

It would be great for ReviewSpot members to post some comments and maybe even put a picture up on Facebook of your favourite item of clothing you cannot bear to part with from many years ago. Perhaps even change your profile picture for a week?! If you would like to email me a photo and a description I will add them to this article. jan@ReviewSpot.co.uk

As for me, it's back to the charity bag and a lot of grit and determination to make some space in my wardrobe!
